About the bands:

Stride emerged out of Paragon’s inclusive youth music programmes and have been performing live at venues and festivals across Glasgow since 2017. They meet to write and record original music at Berkeley 2 Studios in the city, creating eclectic songs that incorporate the diverse skills and ideas of individual group members.

Rock DI is a rock band formed by young musicians from the inclusive music workshops of Armonía E Institución AC. They have been meeting and rehearsing for the past six years in San Juan del Río, Queretaro, creating their own unique artistic history through powerful and emotive songwriting.

During the pandemic both bands met up online, continuing to rehearse and create new songs before discovering each other through shared networks across the Atlantic. They quickly realised that their passion, ethos, and creative approach to inclusive music-making would make for a beautiful collaboration.

Supported by the British Council #DigitalCollaborationFund, musicians from both countries composed and recorded ten original tracks for this album. The songs reflect their own lived experiences about disability, the pandemic, and the longing to meet up despite the five thousand miles distance between them.

Abrazos means “Hugs” in Spanish and one day they hope that they will be able to hug one another in person!
